I am Vito Di Bona, an artist from Durham, NC. I have been creating tensegrity sculptures since 1996, when I first discovered the works of Kenneth Snelson, made during his time at nearby Black Mountain College. I completed my senior thesis, An Investigation into Tensegrity Sculptures, at Warren Wilson College and graduated with a degree in mathematics. My interest in sculptural tensegrity is now primarily artistic and philosophical and is ideal for exploring the themes of connectedness, separateness, story and meaning, opposing forces, beauty, balance, and equilibrium. I’d like more sales, shows and gallery representation. Please contact me at taosongs.music at gmail to discuss.
This particular collection demonstrates the elements which can combine to yield almost any form desired: (1) uniform sculptural tensegrity (2) cone sculptural tensegrity, (3) uniform sculptural tensegrity stack (4) uniform sculptural tensegrity arc (5) uniform sculptural tensegrity wreath (6) uniform sculptural tensegrity helix
The ancient text of the Tao Te Ching provides another source of inspiration and understanding for these sculptures in the song from Chapter 2 of the book by the Taoist sage, Lao Tzu.
